Enrolment Opportunities

Thank you for considering Mercedes College as a choice for your child’s education. We look forward to welcoming you into our school community to discuss the learning opportunities, pastoral care programmes and extra-curricular activities available to our students.

We invite you to visit our school and experience the sense of welcome that is a fundamental part of our Mercy culture.

You can also download our Prospectus for an overview of the curriculum and opportunities we offer.

Enrolment Process

Interested in exploring our College further for your child? There are four easy steps...

1. Register your interest

Complete an online Registration of Interest form at your earliest opportunity to ensure your child’s name is placed on a wait list.

If you would prefer a paper form, please contact our Registrar on 8372 3200.

2. Attend an Orientation Walk

Attend an Orientation Walk to experience the College, its culture and our community as students and staff go about their day. You are welcome to do this before or after lodging the Registration of Interest.

3. Apply for enrolment

Approximately 18 months prior to your child’s start date, we will send you an Application for Enrolment if a position is available. We will also request a copy of the following documents:

  • Most recent academic reports (Years 1 – 12)
  • Any relevant assessments
  • A Parish Priest or family letter of introduction
  • Your child’s Birth Certificate

4. A position may be offered

If you are successful in your Application for Enrolment, we will send you a written Offer of Position. You will then need to:

  • Sign and return your Acceptance of Enrolment form
  • Provide us with a Confirmation Fee of $1000.00 for the first child in the family and $800.00 for subsequent children

$500.00 of this Confirmation Fee will be credited to your first fee account with the balance being a non-refundable administration charge. Should your child’s enrolment be cancelled prior to commencement, the full Confirmation Fee payment is non-refundable.

Interview
Once you have accepted a position, an interview will be organised for your child. This is part of your child’s transition into the College and allows us all to get to know one another better and answer any additional questions you may have.

Nomination Forms for sport, subjects and extra-curricular activities
We also ask you to complete our Online Nomination Forms to select preferences for your child/ren’s sport, subject and extra-curricular activities.

Please note: where there is more than one household for your child/ren please only complete one nomination form.

Enrolment Policy

Our enrolment policy is a guide to our selection procedure and has been approved by the Mercedes College Council. We are a Catholic school and our families are expected to be supportive of our ethos and philosophy.

Priority is given to:

  1. Children of families with a child already attending the College
  2. Children of Old Scholars
  3. Children of Catholic families (those who have attended a regional parish school have some priority)
  4. For entry at Year 6 and Year 7, children of denominations other than Catholic, who have attended a regional parish school
  5. Children of families of other denominations, where vacancies occur.

Please note that unfortunately the College can’t accept all students who have completed a Registration of Interest for Enrolment. Completion of a Registration of Interest for Enrolment does not guarantee your child a position within the College.
