A Catholic College in the Mercy tradition, is a place where everyone belongs, is valued, respected and encouraged to grow into the best version of themselves. This is the Mercedes Way…

Empowering students to be principled, happy, confident people of character.

Situated on 6.5 hectares of lush, green gardens on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people, our Campus provides a beautiful botanic space for our students.

Mercedes was founded in 1954 by the Mercy Sisters. Since that time, the College has continued to grow and thrive to become a leading co-educational, Reception to Year 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) world school.

Our values-based community, combined with a focus on delivering an engaging educational experience, is a place where all students can learn, belong, and grow, no matter their background or beliefs.

Mercedes College has nurtured students in their learning for more than seven decades and is now inspiring a new generation. Young people who are curious, open-minded, creative thinkers, ready to take risks, ask questions and embrace the ever-changing and evolving world around them.

Your child’s journey at Mercedes College, will be marked with milestones of personal achievement and academic development.

Our Vision

To be a sustainable, internationally minded world-class school, providing a holistic educational experience for our students within a unique culture and community where we honour tradition and live the Mercy Keys.

Our Mission

As a Catholic school in the Mercy tradition and inspired by the Gospels, we work in partnership with families enabling students to flourish in all aspects of their humanity and thus contribute to a better and more peaceful world.

Our Values

Mercedes College is shaped by six Mercy Keys.

Grounded in our Catholic and Mercy heritage, these Keys are lived values that are embraced and modelled by our staff, teachers, and students… they are a way of life at Mercedes College.

They govern who we are and how we treat each other.

  • Compassion
  • Integrity
  • Justice
  • Loyalty
  • Mutual Respect
  • Responsibility

Our Mercy Keys are an integral part of College life, often evident in the strong personal connections that are formed between staff, students, families and our extensive Old Scholar community.

From the first day our students arrive on Campus to the day they become graduates we encourage them to keep their Mercy values close.

They are the defining mark of a Mercedes College student and Old Scholar.

Faith and Mission

Catherine McAuley founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1831 and her key focus was to offer education to those most in need. Catherine believed that education could change lives – and we agree…

The Sisters of Mercy travelled from Dublin to Adelaide and in 1954, opened Mercedes College. Our commitment to living Catherine’s Mercy faith and supporting her mission to help change lives through education is as strong today as it was 70 years ago.

Our graduates are principled, compassionate people of strong character, well-rounded, and grounded in the Catholic values and teachings which have become part of our culture.

Our students participate in a range of liturgical celebrations each year and support charities and causes which support a range of local and international charities and organisations. Social Justice and being aware of the world around us, is an important part of sharing messages with students, about their impact on and responsibility to others.
