International students have been studying at Mercedes College for more nearly 60 years. During this time the College has obtained a reputation for academic excellence, alongside the development of each student’s personal passions, values, and self-confidence.

The College is one of more than 5,000 International Baccalaureate (IB) world schools, giving our teaching style a focus on students learning how to build the tools they need to be curious, independent thinkers.

No other learning framework prepares students more comprehensively for life in an increasingly intercultural world, nor more effectively opens their minds to lifelong independent learning.

At Mercedes College we teach the IB curriculum from Reception to Year 12, with seniors offered the option of studying the IB Diploma or South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), both of which are pathways to university entry.

Each IB Programme uses cross-disciplinary learning, equipping our students with knowledge based in real world, multicultural, and global contexts, helping them apply to their skills to varied circumstances as they grow.

  • Primary Years Programme | Reception to Year 5
  • Middle Years Programme | Year 6 to Year 10
  • Diploma Programme (or SACE) | Year 11 and Year 12

When combined with the Australian curriculum, our students are set up for a success in whichever field they choose.

Students follow the Australian curriculum through the IB framework, with most independent subject selections occurring in Senior School.

Growth and Personal Skills

The Growth and Personal Skills Programme (GPS) is introduced to students in Middle School and continues through Senior School, covering topics that evolve as students grow and mature into adulthood.

We see these life skills as equal in importance to student academic learning, as we strive to deliver a ‘whole-of-person’ education to our students – one that extends beyond grades and assessments, to include personal, social and emotional intelligence and maturity.
