Our weekly Playgroup sessions provide a warm, welcoming and friendly experience for children aged 0-5 and their families. It is the start of the Mercedes journey and is a wonderful introduction to the College – our team, our culture and our values.
Hosted at our College Campus every Thursday morning, on the edge of our Junior School learning areas, all families are invited to be part of our Playgroup sessions, whether they are an Old Scholar, new to the College, from our current families, or part of the local community.
Children can enjoy indoor and outdoor play with a range of activities, and families can catch up over a cup of coffee, all led by our Playgroup Facilitator and support staff.
Our sessions connect with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, taught at the College from Reception to Year 5. This provides a great foundation for future learning in a relaxed, playful and inclusive environment.
Mercedes College Playgroup is a member of Playgroup SA and run under the Supported Playgroups in Catholic Education (SPiCE), overseen by Catholic Education South Australia.
This ensures alignment with best practise in early learning education.
We developed our programme to follow the National Early Years Learning Framework, including the transition to school, and a Reggio Emilia inspired approach, which emphasises children’s natural curiosity and creativity.

Mercedes College Playgroup sessions take place on Thursdays during the school term, 9.00am to 10.30am and are $5 per child.
Sessions can be pre-purchased here, then after registering your details with us for the first time, you may choose to pay for sessions on arrival at Playgroup.
We understand that life with young children can be unpredictable!
If you have registered for a session, but can no longer make it, just let us know up to an hour in advance and we’ll transfer your session to the following week.

If you would like to come along to our Playgroup sessions each Thursday morning during Term time, please send an email to playgroup@mercedes.catholic.edu.au with your contact details and those of your children.
The sessions run from 9.00am to 10.30am and there is a small fee of $5 per child per session and you can pay as you go.
We will send a reminder out each week, and if you can let us know if you can make it, then we can know to expect you.
