New Arts and Sports Precinct Providing future-focused and sustainable learning environments, this is where our students will enjoy a new performing arts centre, a state-of-the-art indoor sports complex, communal spaces and external netball and tennis courts.

Our new $25 million Arts and Sports Precinct, designed by a team of leading architects, was developed with the invaluable input from our College community.

The result is a beautifully designed and functional space for connecting, collaborating and flourishing that meets the needs of our students and community today and well into the future.

The Arts and Sports Precinct offers students functional spaces and is inspired by the College’s beautiful surroundings and the grounds’ botanical nature, connecting our heritage with the future through contemporary style.

Based on input from students and the community, the new Precinct offers spaces for performing arts, sport, connection, community and learning.

Changes coming in Term 3, 2022

With construction of our new $25 million Arts and Sports Precinct to start soon, Kennett Builders will fence the Precinct build site during the winter school holidays, temporarily changing access to Mercedes College from the beginning of Term 3.

Key notes:

  • On-site parking will be significantly reduced, with around 50 per cent of staff, and all students who drive to school, needing to park off-site and walk into the campus.
  • Kiss-and-Drop will be available in the mornings only, and restricted to Reception to Year 3 families (including siblings).
  • The Carrick Hill Drive/Fullarton Road entrance will be reduced to pedestrian access only.

20 June 2022 | Appointment of Building Partner

We are delighted to confirm that after a rigorous tender process, Kennett Builders has been appointed to build our landmark Arts and Sports Precinct.

They will build multiple contemporary spaces that will provide greater learning flexibility where students can flourish: in the new performing arts and indoor sports complexes, on the outdoor netball and tennis courts, and in the community plaza.

The Precinct is due to be completed in 2024 – a fitting milestone for the College’s 70th year.

Performing Arts
Gleeson Hall is being transformed into a centre for creativity, self expression and performing arts, providing spaces for collaboration, rehearsals, group activity and a stage and auditorium for performances and events.

Community is such a big part of who we are. The design addresses our needs, and those our broader community, by providing a range of spaces for an array of uses, designed with sustainability top of mind - and we look forward to seeing you in the plaza.

The new Precinct connects key campus areas together for ever better student connectivity, it also offers indoor and outdoor spaces for students to connect with each other and have a sense of belonging.

The new spaces created within this Precinct enable our teachers to be even more flexible in their approach, taking learning out of the classroom and into creative, inspiring and contemporary surroundings.
