Change of Middle School Intake Years

In 2019 Year 7 will shift from a primary to a secondary setting in most South Australian Catholic schools, including Mercedes College.

To accommodate and prepare for this change, we have had key entry points at Years 6, 7 and 8 for Middle School students in recent years.

From 2021, the College will have main Middle School entry points at Year 6 and Year 7, with three Year 6 classes, and five Year 7 classes. Year 8 will no longer be a key intake year. Where vacancies occur between Year 8 to Year 12, positions will be offered according to our Enrolment Policy.

Families who registered for Year 8 in 2021 have already been contacted about moving to Year 7 in 2020. If you have registered for Year 8 beyond 2021, we invite you to contact our Registrar, Mrs Rita Micale, to discuss your child’s enrolment options on 8372 3252 or rmicale@mercedes.catholic.edu.au.

In the Junior School, we continue to have Reception and Mid-Year Reception (Term 3) as our key intakes, with limited vacancies in other year levels. The Mid-Year intake provides increased flexibility by allowing children to attend either 3, 4 or 5 days per week. This allows children with birth dates from 1 May to 31 October to adapt to school at their own pace in a supportive and positive environment, before commencing fulltime Reception the following year.
