IB Results complete 2022 academic achievements
This week's release of IB Diploma scores and their subsequent conversion into an ATAR has given us the full picture of our Class of 2022's academic results.
We are delighted to confirm that there has been a 100% completion rate by students across both the IB Diploma and SACE, with our 2022 Duces Sascha Spoor and Georgia Harvey leading the way.
At Mercedes College, 15 per cent of students completed the IB Diploma in 2022, with a further 10 per cent improving their SACE result with at least one IB Diploma subject.
The average result for our IB students in 2022 is 37 out of the maximum 45 points, with a top result of 43 by IB Duces Sascha Spoor, Georgina Harvey, and Isabelle Stein.
With the conversion to an equivalent ATAR, the Class of 2022 has officially seen 15 per cent of students gaining an ATAR of 95 or higher, and 30 per cent achieving in the 90s.
Sixty per cent of Mercedes College students have attained an ATAR of 80 or more, with 30 per cent gaining an ATAR between 80 and 90.
We commend 18 students who together have achieved 33 Merits:
- SACE Merits across Research Project B, Visual Arts (Art), and Psychology
- IB Merits across English A: Literature, English B, French B, Indonesian B, Spanish ab initio, Business Management, Economics, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics Applications and Interpretations.
We also congratulate students who chose to study VET subjects as wide ranging as Business, Music Industry, Screen and Media, to Fitness, Applied Fashion Design and Technology, and Health Services Assistance.
Principal Andrew Balkwell has congratulated all students on their commitment to learning, hard work and achievements.
"Great results come from grit and pursuit of excellence. There's no doubt that young people graduating in 2022 are resilient, having navigated a pandemic during their Senior School experience, yet are still shining brightly to be their best."
"Learning is lifelong, and it's terrific to see that each graduate has their own aspirations and dreams to chase."
We look forward to hearing about the bright futures of the Class of 2022, and welcome back our ongoing students on Wednesday 1 February 2023.
