Students seek out partnership to support each other

Student-led project, Preventing Period Panic, launched with new partner, Pixii.

In a demonstration of inclusivity and compassion, our students have sprearheaded a project that will see eco-friendly pads and tampons made available free of charge for students to use in emergency situations.

Year 11 student, Sanna Sandhu, has been instrumental in driving this project, with the support of our female College Captains and Middle School Leaders.

A big part of this project is to normalise talking about periods, and we would therefore appreciate the support of our families to speak with students openly if it sparks further discussion at home.

Our partnering company, Pixii, is an Australian company dedicated to improving gender equality and support of females in workplaces and schools by providing period products on site as a matter of good hygiene. All of their products are plastic-free, 100% organic cotton, free from bleach, dye and chemicals, and biodegradable.

Period products will be available in the McAuley Courtyard girls toilets and change rooms for a trial across Term 2.
