Sweeping views of the coastline from many areas throughout the College provides classrooms with the feeling of space.

Location, Access, Parking and Bus Information

Nestled at the base of the Adelaide Foothills, 6km South of the city centre of Adelaide, Mercedes College is positioned on 6.5 hectares of land overlooking sweeping views of the Adelaide coastline providing a sense of space, wellbeing, and a calm and pleasant environment.

College Entrance

The College is accessible by car through two entry points. The Fullarton Road entrance is the drop off area for Middle and Senior School students and for visitors to the McAuley Office.

Delamere Avenue is the Junior School Kiss and Drop entrance and access point for visitors to Strathspey Reception, the main administration building.

Delamere Avenue Visitor Car Parks

Visitor parking is available via the Delamere Avenue entrance. Visitors (aside from parents) should be aware that this car park is very busy during school drop offs and picks (8:20am - 8:45am and 3:00pm - 3:45pm) and if possible we suggest you avoid arriving during these times.

The College recognises that Junior School parents are often more involved in College life on a daily basis and visit their children more often; accordingly parking in the Delamere Car Park on the northern side of the College is designated for Junior School parents, in addition to other visitors. We ask that parents and visitors restrict themselves to this area.

At peak drop off and pick up times please enter the Delamere Visitor Car Park rather than queue in the Kiss and Drop line, unless the car park is full. The western side of the Delamere entrance is available for 15 minute parking, except when school buses are present.

Kiss and Drop Zone

There is a Kiss and Drop zone on the left side of the roundabout at the Delamere entrance for Junior School students. This is for drop off or pick up only. The driver must not leave the car. The parks around the western side of the roundabout are available for 15 minute parks. Drivers may leave their cars.

Staff monitor Kiss and Drop before and after school. Parents are asked to respectfully follow the directions of staff on duty in
these areas.

Please adhere to the following reminders for school pick up:

  • Fill the visitors' car park and parks around the roundabout, including those leading out of the College first before parking at the 3 Kiss and Drop parks
  • The 3 Kiss and Drop parks are for short time limits – you may be asked to move on to alleviate traffic issues
  • If your child regularly comes to Kiss and Drop late, then please either come later or park on Delamere Avenue. This will support greater efficiency and reduce the line-ups
  • We encourage Years 3-5 families, with no younger siblings or toddlers, to park on Delamere Avenue. Thank you to the many families who do this – it is often much quicker and allows opportunities for a quick chat with other parents, and gets your steps up!
  • Please observe the speed limits by the Delamere crossing and inside the College – the risk of an accident is significantly increased with speed. Staff have been concerned to witness some cars being driven well above the speed limit
  • Please make extended family members aware of the above reminders.

Thank you for being a caring, respectful and supportive family, and a wonderful role model to your children and others.

Fullarton Road Entrance and Cars on College Grounds

Years 6-12 parent(s)/caregiver(s) only are encouraged to use the Fullarton Road Kiss and Drop prior to 8:15am. After 8:15am parent(s)/caregiver(s) may drop students outside the College at either the Delamere Avenue or Rectory Walk gates.

Junior School families are not permitted to use this entrance.

The roadway between the College buildings and Maryvale Oval is a car-free zone between 7:45am and 4:45pm and under no circumstances should parent/caregivers be driving up to school buildings. Bollards in in place to block access to vehicles during the schoolday.
