Sport
Mercedes College has a strong sporting tradition and is recognised as a leading school in Athletics, Cross Country and various team sports.
We believe that sports are vital to our curriculum not only because students enjoy participating in sport, but because sports embody the many qualities in which the College believes.
Essential to the approach to Sport at Mercedes is the dedication to teamwork and fitness that is required. Students are encouraged to work together to enhance pride and community spirit as well as learn the importance of winning with grace and losing with dignity.
Mercedes aims to provide every student the chance to benefit from learning through sport by participating in a sport of his or her choice at the level appropriate to their abilities. All of our students receive equal encouragement and have the opportunity to take part in all the sports on offer.
In Years 2 to 7 students can participate in a range of sports including Athletics, Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Cricket, Cross Country, Hockey, Mini Volleyball, Netball, Soccer, Softball and Tennis.
In Years 8 to 12 students can take part in Athletics, Australian Rules Football, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Cricket, Cross Country, Hockey, Netball, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo.
